SMFA Sunday Lunch

On Sunday 11th June the North West Area of Somerset Masonic Friendship Association (SMFA) held a very successful Sunday Lunch, with over 52 people attending, including Ray Baines the Vice Patron of the SMFA.

Following a very short introduction by Peter Russell the Provincial Coordinator, extolling the virtues of belonging to the SMFA and supporting it, a superb meal was provided by the Nailsea Masonic Centre. Which was followed by over an hours entertainment by the Weston Super Mare Ukulele band!

The band, who collect for the Children’s Hospice South-West, all play for free, taking nothing for themselves, not even travel expenses, entertained with songs from Lonnie Donegan to Abba and the Village People, including songs from the Beatles. The foot stomping to “Is this the Way to Amarillo” had to be seen and heard to be believed!

Audience participation was called upon with one lady conducting the band, whilst others were on the Maracas, a great day was had by all.The day was rounded off with a rousing rendition of the National Anthem with Matt Westley tinkling the ivories.

The event raised over £320 for the Hospice, thanks were given to Peter Harris, The staff of Nailsea Masonic Centre, Eve the ever present bar lady, the Ukuela band and of course all that came to support us.

Submitted by Brian Clayton NW Coordinator SMFA.
