Younge Somerset Receive £5660 from five Royal Arch Chapters in Somerset

Since October 2024, a generous sum of £5,660 has been donated to Young Somerset, the chosen charity for the Provincial Grand Chapter of Somerset. This donation is a combination of individual Chapter contributions and funds from the Provincial Support Fund.

The Provincial Support Fund was established to encourage Chapters to increase their donations and to provide additional support, even for those who may only be able to contribute smaller amounts.
Two significant presentations have been held at different Young Somerset locations since October. The Bridgwater workshop, and their charity shop in Taunton. Representatives from all donating Chapters attended these events, and was also supported by Geoff Lester, the Provincial Grand Charity Steward, Charlie Barker, the Provincial Grand Scribe Ezra and Graham Puddy, the Provincial Grand Charity Steward for the Craft.

The warm welcome from the Young Somerset team was matched by a comprehensive presentation, led by Vicky Thomas, Siobhan Gallager, and Helen Bown, detailing the charity’s important work with children, young adults and their families throughout the Province. As the largest youth work charity in Somerset, Young Somerset delivers a wide range of services, both in group settings and through targeted individual programs.

Young Somerset has had a profound impact on the community, having supported over 6,000 individuals in the past three years. The charity’s success has caught the attention of large organisations such as Great Western Trains, who have invited them to open a café at the Bridgwater railway station and expand their youth work there. Additionally, Young Somerset plans to open new shops in Angel Place in Bridgwater and Wellington, further expanding their outreach.

As part of the ongoing commitment, we presented donations totalling £5660 to Young Somerset, consisting of donations from the Chapter of Brotherly Love, Quantock Chapter, Calderley Chapter, Devon and Somerset Farmers Chapter, Inkerman Chapter, and The Chapter of Sincerity.
