50 years to the day!

On Tuesday 7 th May 2024 W.Bro Mike Cowie Celebrated his 50th year in freemasonry at his mother
lodge, St Kew, who meet in Weston super Mare.

It was a very special event for Mike and the lodge as W.Bro Martin Slocombe PSGD, PAPrGM
Presented Mike with his certificate, exactly 50 years to the day Mike got initiated into St Kew. With
Mikes brother making the trip down from Cheltenham to witness this very memorable occasion.


A lot of Mikes childhood was spent in different parts of the UK with his father moving frequently
with work until they both set up business opening a service station on the Broadway in Weston, they
ran this business until 1989 when Mike then went to work for a number of businesses finally retiring
at the age of 73.

Mike was introduced into masonry by his father who was an organist for many years and was
initiated at the age of 30 in 1974, Mike became worshipful master 12 years later and has since held
offices of ADC, DC, Chaplin and Almoner.

Mike has also gone on to received provincial rank of PPJGD in 1992, PPGREG in 2001 and PPJGW in
2009.

Preceptor of LOI for 25 years Mike is always on hand to help the younger and newer brethren learn
ritual and floor work.
