A New Master at Backwell

It was Friday 19th April, the sun was shining and the Brethren were assembling in healthy numbers for the much anticipated installation of Bro. Roddy Chambers as Backwell Lodge’s new Worshipful Master.

Unfortunately, the outgoing WM was unable to attend the meeting due to other important masonic commitments, so it was left in the capable hands of W Bro Richard Dyer to take the role of Installing Master.  The Lodge was also very pleased to welcome the new Provincial Junior Grand Warden, W Bro Rob Hughes, who was in attendance very ably representing the Provincial Grand Master.

The ceremony went smoothly (mostly!) and Roddy was installed into the Chair of King Solomon in fine form, much to the delight of everyone present.

W Bro Richard Dyer summed the installation up well in his toast to the new WM at the Festive Board when he said: “We have all been waiting a long time for this occasion and it’s great to now be able to refer to Roddy as Worshipful Brother Chambers.

I’ve known Worshipful Brother Chambers for well over 10 years and have seen him progress and always step up to the plate when the Lodge has needed him to do so.  There is no doubt in my mind or the minds of Backwell members that he will continue to do an excellent job for the Lodge as our new Worshipful Master.

Whilst being in the Chair holds great responsibility, it’s important to enjoy the experience too.  I know the officers and Brethren of the Lodge will support him in his year, I’m sure we will have some fun along the way and we hope this time next year that he will look back on it with fond and happy memories”.
