Taunton Masons Do A Pit Stop At Silverstone Lodge 9877
On the 23rd February 2024, ten intrepid Taunton masons set off to visit Silverstone Lodge 9877 in the Province of Northamptonshire and Huntingdonshire to witness the installation of Pete Dyer, also of the Somersetshire Lodge 2925. In attendance was the Deputy Provincial Grand Master Charles Bennett and the Assistant Provincial Grand Master Tim Almond. Although this particular meeting was held at the Masonic Hall in Towcester and not Silverstone, it did not detract from a very enjoyable evening. The visitors were welcomed by all and shown around the Lodge by Tim Almond who is a member of the Silverstone Lodge.
Visitors were treated to an very good ceremony with the Worshipful Master and his officers parading into iconic Fleetwood Mac music ‘The Chain’, which is the theme tune of Formula 1. They witnessed an installation to be very proud of, undertaken by Paul Sparks and with Pete Dyer appointing and installing his officers. The festive board was held at The Boat Inn near Towcester where diners were treated to a very tasty meal accompanied by many humorous speeches. The visit was adeptly organised by Steve Thraxton of L3158 and another visit is planned for 2025, to see Pete Dyer install his successor.
