Roger Takes The Chair At The Showman’s Guild

What a great evening at The Showmen’s Guild Lodge 9089 this past Thursday, Our new Worshipful Master Bro Roger O’Connor was installed into the chair of King Solomon in excellent fashion, by his father W.Bro Roger O’Connor PrGSwdB, in what was a truly emotional evening shared by a goodly number of members and visitors. W.Bro Roger had previously initiated, past and raised his son, when he was in the chair for the first time in 2017 and fulfilled his great wish and concluded his latest Mastership by installing him as Master.

During the meeting two of our younger member delivered fantastic renditions of the working tools both for the first time, Bro Neil Renton delivered 3rd degree tools and Bro Jack Richards, who was only initiated in December, passed in January with the second degree tool.

One of those visitors was W.Bro Steve Merryweather PAGDC, who presented the new Worshipful Master and the installing master a wonder historic book written by his wife Kath about the history and formation of the Showmen’s Guild of great Britain , the sociality that protect the interest of the traveling showmen in the country. Its very important to note that W.Bro Steve’s wife Kath is the great, great, great  granddaughter of  James Dean a founder of the showmen’s guild in 1889 and past president.

At the lodges 41st installation we were honoured to have 1 of our surviving 4 founders present W.Bro Alan Jenkins PPrSGW who gave a rousing response to the toast to the founders at the festive board which topped off a memorable evening which was enjoyed by all.
