Tyntesfield Chapter welcome Ray Guthrie.

On Thursday 8th February, Tyntesfield Chapter held its 140th meeting. The chapter was honoured with the presence of the MEGS Ray Guthrie on a private visit, and he was ably assisted by his DC E Comp Angus Ross.

The primary business of the evening was to Exalt Bro David Neale of Tyntesfield Lodge. The Principals (E Comp Richard Ellis as Z, E Comp David Maddern as H and E Comp Bob Paice as J) and Sojourners provided another great ceremony, with Comp Chris Perry entrusting the candidate and carrying out his duties as stand in 2nd Assistant Sojourner very well. Comp Steve Collings took over and completed his 1st Assistant Sojourner part with confidence and handed over to Comp Mark Wilcox who delivered his Principal Sojourner part with sincerity and integrity. The Address to the Candidate was given by the Most Excellent Grand Superintendent. The signs were presented by E Comp Martin Slocombe, The Mystical Lecture was presented by the three Principals – E Comp Richard Ellis, E Comp Bob Paice and E Comp David Maddern.

The Principals and Principal Sojourner of Tyntesfield Chapter with the Most Excellent Grand Superintendent and Companion David Neale. E Comp David Maddern as part of his Third Provincial Principal’s duty presented Supreme Grand Chapter certificates to Companions Mayes, Perry and Hockley. The later two companions having received their certificates in Estune Lodge but needed to sign them at a Chapter meeting.

The Chapter was closed in peace and harmony and the companions adjourned for a Festive Board of Fish Cakes followed by Hunters Chicken topped with bacon and cheese and BBQ sauce and rounded off by a Cheese Board and Coffee, again up to the normal excellent Nailsea standard.

A very enjoyable evening was had by all. The next convocation will be a Membership Challenge visit from the Province, plus a read through of the Savage Workings, on Thursday 9th May 2024. As always visitors will receive a normal Tyntesfield welcome.
