Outside the door of the Lodge

There was a song, back in the day, called “Green Door” with the Lyrics, “What’s that secret you’re keeping?”

Well, the door to Bath Masonic Hall is not green and there are not many secrets inside since Freemasonry became more open and transparent.

Non-members have always been encouraged to express an interest, rather than wait to be invited to join, and one young man, intrigued by observing a stream of men (dressed in black!) processing into the building at regular intervals, whilst he sat in his car waiting for his girlfriend to finish work, was moved to approach one, and asked if he was a Freemason.

Brother Mervyn was pleased to affirm that he was and encouraged him to talk to his good friend, Brother David to discover more.

David met with Jake, provided sufficient information to answer most of his questions and left him to mull it over.

Without much hesitation, Jake asked if he could join and after due process, he became an Entered Apprentice at the February Meeting of St Alphege Lodge.

The old adage, adopted from ancient scripture, “ask and you shall receive, Seek and you shall find, Knock and it will be opened unto you” certainly applies!
