Old Friend – New Companion

At the recent convocation of Connaught Chapter Richard Gilson the DC of Connaught Lodge was finally exalted into the Royal Arch.

The Grand Superintendent Ray Guthrie was there as well as several other members of the Chapter “Chain Gang”. At the meeting Ray talked about the Membership Challenge and the reduction in the number of Companions in Somerset over the past 25 years which is sadly c30%, however they are looking to reverse this trend and increase the overall membership by 10% (net) per chapter by the end of 2027.

Ray detailed how sustained growth could be achieved and too make Royal Arch Masonry more fun to be part of and to encourage those Companions that are unattached to return, also to welcome those Master Masons that have not yet completed their Journey, to seek for that which was lost.

Connaught Chapter was the first of the 26 Chapters in Somerset to receive the Membership Challenge presentation, which was well received and provided the topic for lively discussions whilst dining afterwards.

During the meeting David Maddern, one of the three Provincial Grand Principals presented a Supreme Grand Chapter Certificate to Neil Sundered, which was well received.

There is a chance to see the new and revised “Savage” ritual performed by the Provincial team at various Chapters across the Province, please visit the website to find out more.
