Mercy In Action

An appropriately named charity, “taking action against poverty, injustice and inequality, to see children and families thrive”, Mercy In Action helps over 14 million people in the United Kingdom.

Under their auspices, Action Pantry in Twerton, provides 6,500 meals per week to over 200 struggling local families, and they were an obvious choice to be the recipient of financial help from St Alphege Lodge, when their Master Peter was looking for a local charity to support.

Allison Todd, pictured receiving the cheque from Peter, is the CEO and Founder of Mercy in Action.

Also pictured is David, the Treasurer of the Lodge, who on this occasion was only too pleased to be able to release the funds, accompanied by Fiona, the manager of Action Pantry.

The money will be used to buy staples from a wholesaler to supplement the food parcels that they provide weekly via the Action Pantry.

Their donation of £1,000 will pay for a months’ worth of pasta, rice, tinned beans, soup and other non-perishables.

Shockingly, for a City like Bath, the situation is probably as worse now as it has ever been and definitely worse than last year.

Mercy in Action were helped by the Square Meals Project in 2020 and 2021 and as Allison said, “without that initiative, things would have been very difficult for local families in Bath over those two years”.
