Rural Philanthropic Lodge #291 show them how its done!

On Sunday 20th November Rural Philanthropic Lodge, or RPL 291 as they are affectionately known, held their usual Lodge of Instruction Demonstration, at Burnham on Sea Masonic Hall, followed by a wonderful Sunday lunch, accompanied by their partners and guests.

RPL have been carrying out this demonstration for many years and it gives the progressive officers the chance to practice their work in a more relaxed environment, although aprons are worn, but no collars or cuffs. Each member moves up one place, so they are carrying out the work they will be doing next year, after installation. There were 28 brethren at the presentation, with over 50 attending the lunch.

It works extremely well as they get chance to “practice” in a more realistic way, and RPL is known for its ritual.

Guests included Martin Slocombe and David Flack, who were both impressed with the work carried out and feel it may be a good idea for other Lodges in the Province to do the same.

After the presentation partners, were invited to join the members for lunch in a most friendly and convivial atmosphere, there was even a new prospective candidate joining them, with his wife and their young baby (a first for 291!).
