Glastonbury Lodges Fire up the Local Scouts
The 4th Glastonbury Scouts lit their first Bonfire in the new Fire Pit, which together with an all new seating area for 40 people was built with generous donations totalling £2,250 from 3 Glastonbury Lodges; Pilgrims Lodge No. 772, St. Dunstan’s Lodge No. 7973 and Mendip Mark Lodge No. 781.
The new outdoor facilities will be a fantastic asset to the scouts, enabling many an evening spent around the Camp Fire. W. Bro. Mick Wright the WM of Pilgrims Lodge who organised and oversaw the building of the new Fire Pit and Seating Area together with W. Bro. Mark Caldwell WM of St. Dunstan’s Lodge and Bro. David Hillburn the CS of Mendip Mark were all present for the Ribbon Cutting ceremony to declare the facilities officially open for the use of the Beavers, Cubs and Scouts.
Reverend David MacGeoch the Scout Leader and Vicar of St. John’s Church in Glastonbury was overjoyed by the generosity of the Town’s Freemasons in providing an asset that will see constant use for years to come and led the scouts in heating marshmallows on the fire which were enjoyed by all.
