After a twenty month hiatus, it was with much pleasure that the Brethren of Quantock Lodge 4446, meeting in Watchet, opened their doors to hold their Installation of Bro. Keith Lloyd on 6th October.
The Lodge was honoured with the presence of VW.Bro. Ben G.W. Batley PGSwdB, Deputy Provincial Grand Master who, coincidentally, was the last official visitor to Quantock Lodge in March 2020. On that occasion he witnessed Bro John Sully being raised to the sublime degree of a Master Mason and, on this occasion, he presented a Grand Lodge certificate to Bro. John and also saw him being invested as Inner Guard of the Lodge.
Although numbers were down on previous Installations the meeting was attended by a good number with thirteen guests and it was pleasing to note that Quantock’s renowned “atmosphere” was still evident. W.Bro. Alex Moran installed Bro Keith Lloyd, who has waited almost fifty years before reaching the Chair of King Solomon.
W.Bro. Keith has a busy year ahead him, with several Initiations as well as catching-up with those who should already have been Passed and Raised. In April 2022 he also celebrates fifty years in Freemasonry, an evening he wishes to share with W.Bro. Eric Murrell, who will be celebrating his belated sixtieth year in Freemasonry.
After such a long absence, it can be said that Quantock Lodge is now back, up and running, with hopes of a thoroughly enjoyable year ahead.
