Meets at 18:30, on the fourth Monday in Feb, Mar, Oct (Installation 17:00) and Nov.

St. Cecilia Lodge No 9341 is based in the province of Somerset and is a fully warranted Lodge under the governance of the United Grand Lodge of England (UGLE). The lodge was formed and consecrated in 1989 by the founding members all of which had a strong association with music and the arts.
The Lodge name of St. Cecilia gives a clue to its special interest in music, as St. Cecilia is the patron saint of music. Nowadays St. Cecilia welcomes new and joining members from all walks of life with all interests, but continues to foster a special interest in the musical arts, with many members actively researching, teaching, performing, or simply appreciating music.
The lodge was originally a “travelling” Lodge in that it did not have a permanent home, but moved from Lodge to Lodge providing a musical setting to the ceremonies that form the bedrock of most meetings. Many Lodges meet 8 times a year, but St. Cecilia’s meets on just four occasions, and so provides an ideal opportunity to discover and explore Freemasonry, without being too taxing on busy lives.

The ceremonies performed are very special in that a large amount of the content involves singing, and this has led the Lodge to be asked to perform at many dedications, choral events, carol services and special events across the land. The Lodge was even asked to perform for a Provincial service held at Wells Cathedral.

During the year, members holds a number of social events such as Ladies Nights and White Table events, when friends, ladies and non-masons are encouraged to enjoy lodge hospitality, to meet the Brethren, and to learn a little about who we are and what we do. These social events typically involve some thought provoking and truly interesting presentations and demonstrations, such as stone cutting, the work of the Masonic Hospital, other areas of special interest and demonstrations of parts of ceremonies.

St. Cecilia’s prides itself on providing support and instruction to all lodge members, and although Freemasonry is sometimes thought of as such, it should be stressed that it is not a religion. Neither politics nor religion are discussed at any Lodge meetings, but the emphasis is aimed at making “good men better”.
St. Cecilia Lodge encourages any man who is over the age of 21, professes a belief in a “Supreme Being”, and who has an interest in exploring this fascinating body of knowledge, as well as developing his social and moral virtues to contact us for an informal chat.
