Rural Philanthropic Lodge do the Paso Doble!

It was a room filled to the brim with the members of RPL, plus 17 guests, including 7 from the Estune Lodge on their annual Fraternal visit, to witness only the second time in recent years, the new team conduct a double Passing Ceremony.

Doctor Malcom Price conducted the ceremony in his usual style, Passing the two Michaels, Lowe and Young to the second degree. All the officers did well and despite some parts not running as smooth as usual it was nevertheless a great ceremony.

There was a lot going on that night as not only did they welcome the Brethren from Estune, they also welcomed three members of the Oxnaford Lodge from Oxfordshire ( Paul Mcnaughton, George Buck & Tony Flett) who like to make an annual visit to Burnham on Sea each April, as they say they are always made to feel welcome and enjoy their evenings.

The evening also saw the first time a member of RPL, Ian Chedzey receive the PGM’s Working Tools Challenge Lapel Pin, having completed the challenge of delivering the Working Tools in each of the three Degrees. The Pin was Presented by Ian Evans the Lodge Secretary as he had been involved with the Challenge together with Tom Beasly of the Adair Club.

The evening was rounded off in the usual style at Burnham with laughter and revelry, and a superb home made Tomato Soup followed by Fish Pie cooked by the ever hard working John Chinn.

They also had 15 members attend the recent AGM at the Webbington Hotel, to see their very own Peter Greenway re-appointed as a PrGrand Steward in Chapter and John Chinn Appointed as Past Pr Grand Charity Steward, as well as Paul Jarvis appointed as Pr Grand Steward in the Craft.

They also witnessed a name change for Andy Hodge who will now for ever more be called Andy Nodge or Nodger due to a spelling error on the seating plan!
