A Busy Night At Taunton Deane Lodge

At their first meeting in October after the summer recess, Taunton Deane Lodge No. 5221 were pleased to welcome Ben Batley the Deputy PGM and the Provincial Team, on the occasion of their Membership Challenge visit. Ben’s presentation was very well received by those brethren present; the lodge has 52 members and is managing quite well, but know not be complacent and aim to increase membership in a sustainable manner. Following the presentation, the lodge went on to initiate Stuart Breeze, who was an excellent candidate. The ceremony was carried out by the Master and his team in their usual excellent style.

Following the ceremony Ben presented John Phillips with his 50 Years in Freemasonry certificate. John was initiated in Freemasonry on 22 November 1973 (50 years last November) and joined Taunton Deane on the 2nd November 2023. Ben ran through John’s wonderful Masonic career: he has been Master in three Sussex Lodges, a Grand Officer who has held many Offices in a number of different Craft and Progressive orders. All in all – a truly magnificent Masonic career.

The evening was concluded with a superb Festive Board, which was enjoyed by all.
