Yatton Freemasons give £1000 to help needy during Covid-19 Lockdown

Romajos Community Meals have received a welcome boost – from Somerset Freemasons!  On April 23rd Stephen Collings, Charity Steward of Lodge of Agriculture 1199 safely presented Jonny Burnett with a cheque for £1000 at the Butchers Arms Yatton where the meals are prepared – using the Pubs award Winning kitchen.

Since the Corona Virus lockdown, Romajos have produced meals for 150 people 7 days a week which are then distributed to the most needy in the area, including the elderly. The Romajos team consists of 90 volunteers who organise everything from food preparation and labelling to admin and delivery. The meals are free and food costs are met by community donations.

The Butchers Arms, run by Caroline Radnedge and Nick Williams, known locally as ‘Caz and Tonks’, also provide fruit and veg boxes into the community – around 140 per week.  Stephen told Compass “Freemasons all over Somerset are doing their bit to help out with the Covid-19 outbreak and we are delighted to be able to assist this very deserving charity.”  £700 was donated by the Lodge and made up to £1000 by the Province. Thanks to Steve Collings – LCO 1199
