Connaught Dining Club going from Strength to Strength

The Connaught Dining Club is going from strength to strength. At our third meeting on
Friday 3 July at the Old Down Inn, Emborough, eight brethren from Connaught and Kenneth
Kinnersley Lodges and a guest who is lined up to join KK (unfortunately), thoroughly
enjoyed an evening of conviviality and fellowship, over a few beers and an excellent meal.
The Dining Club, as can be seen above, is not exclusive solely to Connaught Lodge brethren
but is also open to Connaught Chapter, plus any other masonic guests, and is an ideal way of
‘breaking the ice’ for potential new members, who, at the end of the evening stated that he had
felt very welcome.

Winding the clock back a couple of months, it all started when a few of us decided to go for a
curry at the Spice Dunes Indian Restaurant in Farrington Gurney after our May Lodge of
Instruction. The evening was so enjoyable we wanted to do it again. We therefore agreed that
we would meet at 7pm on the first Friday of the month at different venues to be decided on
each occasion according to suggestions from the group. So, if we were going to meet on a
regular basis, did we need a formal title; and thus the Connaught Dining Club was born.
Our second gathering was at the Castello Italian Restaurant in Radstock on 5 June. Before
going our separate ways, we agreed the next meeting had to be ‘pub grub’ to accommodate
all tastes, hence the Old Down Inn.

Our next is likely to be at the King William Inn in Tunley on Friday 7 August if we can get a
block booking, and on this occasion with our Ladies. And we would be delighted if brethren
from other Lodges and their ladies would join us, along with any non-masonic guests.
