Somerset Freemasons support LEG

The local LEG Club in Nailsea recently received a donation of £500 from Somerset Freemasons who have been involved with supporting the Nailsea Beer & Cider Festival for the last 4 years. The club is based at The Tithe Barn in Nailsea and its aim is to provide high quality, evidence-based clinical treatment by qualified NHS nurses which would normally require treatment at one of the GP Practices associated with Tyntesfield Medical Group. Besides its main purpose of medical treatment, it also offers refreshments, social interaction and fun for those requiring their services even beyond their treatment ending. In November 2025 Nailsea Leg Club was awarded Leg Club of the Year by the “Lindsey Leg Club Foundation” having been nominated by their Industry Partner, Medi, in recognition of the outstanding support they provide to people living with leg-related conditions.

Russ Woodland APGM accompanied by Steve Collings PrGSW, Chris Perry PrGTyler and Paul Matthews (Southey 6650) went along to the club to present them with the cheque.

This donation follows on from the £1500 donated to the SURE Charity in Taunton which was founded by Barry Palmer APrGM, these funds were used to purchase specialist cushions for the Beacon Cancer Treatment Centre at Musgrove Hospital. A further donation of £1500 raised through Freemasons supporting the Beer & Cider Festival is to be made to the Children’s Hospice South West at Failand.

The ability to support these good causes has only been made possible by Freemasons giving up time to support a Community event and we are fortunate that the committee of the event give us a donation from the funds they raise. Somerset Freemasons have again been asked to support the festival on July 3rd (16:00 – 21:00), 4th (11:00 – 21:00) and 5th (11:00 – 17:00) and if you are interested in helping then please contact W Bro Rob Hughes robhughes@yahoo.com or W Bro Chris Perry ceperry57@gmail.com for further details, no one is asked to commit to more than a 4 hour slot.
