Bridgwater Freemasons present £11,530 to over 20 charities
Bridgwater Freemasons have presented an impressive total of £11,530 to over 20 local charities and good causes during a community celebration morning. The milestone donations mark the group’s fourth major charity presentation for their 2025/2026 session, reinforcing their long-standing commitment to grassroots community support.
The considerable funds were raised entirely through internal member donations, lodge raffles, quizzes, and race nights. Rather than collecting public donations outside supermarkets or on street corners, the group relies on these private events and direct contributions from members’ own pockets to fund their community initiatives.
During the presentation, several visiting charity representatives took to the floor to provide vital context about their organizations. These spokespeople shared moving insights into the daily challenges facing their groups and explained exactly how the newly received funds will be used to directly benefit local individuals and families.
A wide range of vital regional causes benefited from the financial giveaway, spanning mental health support, youth services, veteran support, seasonal projects, and local community outreach. Key beneficiaries on the list included MIND, Christmas Sparkles Taunton, Young Somerset, Somerset Young Carers, Open Doors Homeless Charity, Blind Veterans, and the North Petherton Scout Group.
Medical and emergency initiatives also received a significant boost. Vital financial support was directed toward Cancer Research Bridgwater, Service Dogs Weston-Super-Mare, and the Southwest Ambulance to aid local CPR and treatment programs.
Before members and guests retired to the dining room for refreshments, a raffle draw was held. The proceeds from the raffle raised £200, which, combined with an additional £1,000 donation, went specifically to support The Cuddle Bed Appeal at St Margaret’s Hospice.
The event concluded with a warm round of applause to thank the visiting charity workers for the countless hours of hard work, passion, and dedication they pour into the Somerset community every day.
