Chapter Of St George Regroup & March Forwards

The 30th of October saw the new Masonic season commence in earnest for the Companions of the Chapter of St George, Taunton. During the summer recess the Chapter was rocked by the passing to Grand Chapter above of 2 of its long serving Excellent Companions – Chris Cluff and David Palmer. The loss of David, who had been the Chapter’s Scribe E for 14 years has necessitated a considerable reorganisation of the Chapter officers to keep the Chapter functioning successfully.
Under the guidance of the new team of Principals, ably led by ‘Z’ Mike Meatyard, the Chapter carried out an Exaltation ceremony and the presentation of Grand Chapter Certificates to 2 of its newest members. The Chapter recently modified its ‘Perfect’ ritual, so that the workload and participation is shared more evenly across the Companions. Mark Williams of the Emergency Services Lodge was the Exaltee and stated at the Festive Board that he had enjoyed the Ceremony and looks forward to playing his full part in the Chapter going forward. The Chapter warmly welcomes him.

Once the ceremony was completed, Maldwyn Davies, a visiting Supreme Grand Chapter Officer took great pleasure in presenting GC Certificates to Mark Kitchener and James Still. On completion of the Ceremony in the temple, all retired to an excellent Festive Board laid on by 5* Karen and her catering team. The Chapter now looks forward to their next meeting in December, where they plan to carry out an evening of Chapter lectures which have not presented for a couple of years due to a successful run of carrying
out Exaltation ceremonies. (Membership Challenge reps, please note!)
