Storm Bert didn’t stop the Provincial Team
Whilst storm Bert was brewing in the mid-Atlantic, the Provincial Team gave a whirlwind performance in Weston-Super-Mare. Lead by Ben Batley, Barrie Palmer took the chair from, the Worshipful Master of Wessex Lodge No.4093, Jon Henderson. With the team’s assitance continued to Pass George Aitkin to the Degree of a Fellowcraft. The highlight of the ceremony was the thespianic rendition of the Tracing Board by Russel Woodland, Mark Twist, Matthew Willilams and Samuel Mayer which included the seldom heard extened passage.
Next Leyson Bradley was presented his Veterans Certificate and pin badge, marking 50 years in Freemasonry. He was initiated into Winscombe Lodge No.6474 in 1974 he was their Worshipful Master on the evening of their 75 th Anniversary in 2022. However, on the same evening the Lodge, unfortantly, handed back its Warrant. Leyson then became a joining member of Wessex Lodge No.4093. Where he is the current Senior Deacon. In the intervening years he has had a long distinguished career in sales, working for various companies.
The Provincial Team contented with their efforts retired from the lodge. The convivial festive board was one to remember. A very ‘traditional’ style meal was savoured. Followed by a raffle of some 40 prizes raising a healthy amount of money towards the Lodge’s chosen charities. The next opoportunity, to see the Provincial Team in action, is on the 10 th January 2025 back at Weston-Super Mare. Where they will be carrying out a Double Raising Ceremony for King Alfred Lodge No.3169.
