Progressive Science Lodge Installation

A busy Installation meeting was held at Progressive Science Lodge at the Masonic Hall in Yeovil.

The evening saw the installation of a new Master and his team. Presentations included a Grand Lodge Certificate, 2031 Festival Jewels and a 60-Year Certificate awarded to Worshipful Brother Roy Morley by the Provincial Grand Master Ray Guthrie.

Worshipful Brother Andrew Hall was installed for a second time. As a member of the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers), the installation ceremony was adapted to accommodate his beliefs. Permission for, and assistance with, the modified ceremony was provided by Provincial Grand Director of Ceremonies Garry Sharp.

Worshipful Brother Roy Morley previously served as Master of the Lodge in 1977 and 2021, and as Master of Somerset Masters Lodge in 2007. He is also active in the Mark Degree and holds Provincial Grand rank.

Present to witness Worshipful Brother Roy Morley receiving his 60-Year Certificate was his elder brother, Worshipful Brother John Morley, the Father of the Lodge, who has completed 66 years of service with Progressive Science Lodge.

During the presentation, it was noted that Herbert Dyke represented the Provincial Grand Master at the installation of the Morley brothers’ father in 1959, John in 1972 and Roy in 1977, highlighting an extraordinary family connection spanning generations of service to Freemasonry.
