Wiveliscombe Fair – Community Engagement
On Saturday the 15th of August, Loyal Vacation Lodge had a gazebo stand at the annual Wiveliscombe Fair, held at the recreation ground. The event was very well attended, with considerable interest in the lodge stand shown by the public. They held a free raffle to win both an adult and child hamper donated by Taunton Funeral Services, plus prizes donated by other local businesses.
Information about the origins of Freemasonry and the specific events and charity work that Loyal Vacation carries out were played on a PowerPoint presentation and also displayed on posters with information packs made available. Various Loyal Vacation members and some of their wives manned the gazebo throughout the day on three separate shifts and there was also a team setting up the display and taking it down at the end of the day.
The lodge team were on hand to explain to the public the work carried out by the lodge and also the events that it regularly holds; an encouraging number of the public went away with information leaflets about lodge events and also membership inquiry forms.
The event was deemed to be a great success and a thank you to all those who participated is due. A similar stall will be set up at the Wiveliscombe Street fair in September.
