A Promising Start at King Alfred Installation

The 2026/2027 Masonic season got off to a brilliant start for King Alfred at the recent Installation evening on 9 th October, where the brethren installed our new WM for the coming year in Jim Gilbody. I’m sure we will all see the much anticipated
“Gilbody Workings” in due course…
Certainly an exciting time for K.A, all the progressive roles are currently filled with light blues and with Jim at the helm, there is plenty of encouragement from the leadership for more junior brethren to get stuck in with learning ritual and delivering
pieces to the lodge. The philosophy for this year is “just give it a go, even if you don’t get it perfect the
first time round”

On top of this, a member of the lodge Bro. Adam Foster-Fahy was presented with his Solomon Diploma by WBro Russ Woodland apgm after completing all the welcome modules earlier in the summer, that makes 3 brethren in the lodge now with at least
one more in progress.
Credit to the visitors who were well attended, this includes St Georges, Rural Philanthropic Lodge and Athelstan.
The evening was concluded with a jovial festive board followed by some casual drinks which gave friends opportunity to catch up after the summer break.
A promising time for K.A and we wish all a wonderful year ahead!
