The Provincial Team pay a visit to Keynsham

The Provincial team were in action on Valentines Day with a trip to Keynsham Masonic Hall and in particular to Gérard Lodge 8999 on the occasion of an Organ dedication.

The Provincial Senior Grand Deacon Lindsay Edmunds had kindly donated an Organ to be used by all the Masonic Orders that meet there.

The Provincial team was led by the PGM Ray Guthrie. After the lodge was opened, the team paraded in under the watchful eye of Provincial Grand Director of Ceremonies Garry Sharp.  The PGM was proffered the gavel by the WM of Gérard Lodge, which on this occasion he gratefully accepted.  The PGM thanked the lodge for hosting the team and then welcomed W. Bro Carl Jackson Past Grand Organist who came from London the previous night to attend the ceremony, along the PGM of Herefordshire Michael Holland and a plethora of other heads of Orders from Somerset including Phil Voisey PGM of the Mark Degree, the Inspector General of Rose Croix David Mason, Paul Davis the Provincial Prior of the Knights Templar, Derrick Griffin Deputy Supreme Leader of the OSM. Along with the choir from St Cecilia Lodge.

The PGM placed the Provincial Wardens and Pursuivant in post and asked Carl Jackson to take the Organist Chair. The ceremony included a fantastic Oration by Provincial Grand Chaplin Bob Moore linking music to one of the Liberal Arts and Sciences to Freemasonry. The Organ keys were presented to Carl who then played three superb pieces of music . Surprisingly it was Carl’s first Organ dedication. The Province of Somerset were very grateful to him for making are meeting so special.

The brethren then enjoyed a super festive board with a bumper amount raised for charity from the raffle.

The last Provincial visit of the 2025/26 team is to Somersetshire Lodge on 11th March, and the team are very much looking forward to that.
