A Bustling First Degree at St Dunstan’s
It was a busy night at St Dunstan’s in Glastonbury to initiate Miles Cooper, a local plumber, who has been known by some members for a number of years. The Lodge was nearly full, with a fraternal visit from Benevolent Lodge. There was a goodly number of visitors from across the province, including two brethren from Sussex, one of which was initiated himself just 11 days earlier! The Master Keith Bird, alongside his officers, delivered a smooth ceremony. Past Master and proposer Mark Acreman has known Miles for many years and delivered the charge after initiation in an excellent manner, which was a lovely personal touch for Miles.

Miles afterwards stated that he had recognised many of the brethren as the majority were customers, including one that he had completed a recent boiler install for! Miles was afterwards welcomed into the Adair Club and presented with his badge by Area representatives Michael Beasley and Ian (Bubbs) Burbage and Chairman Tom Beasley.

A lively after meeting dinner followed, together with nearly £300 being raised through the raffle for the Master’s charity: Children’s Hospice South West. We welcome Miles into St Dunstan’s and look forward to our many guests returning soon.
