Portcullis Lodge News Round-Up

Portcullis Lodge, Langport have had a busy month. Firstly, at their October meeting they held their fourth initiation of the year. When Lebanese national Daniel Safadi was initiated into the fraternity in fine style. The team had some last minute changes to the officers taking part, but in good Portcullis style the ceremony was up to the usual high standards, with John Foad catching the eye of most with a word-perfect charge after initiation. Daniel was so looking forward to the ceremony with many of his family being Freemasons. He had got to know the Lodge members over the last six months and will be an excellent addition to the Lodge. A fairly quiet Festive Board followed (by Portcullis standards) due to a fair amount of sickness about. One of the Master’s guests Roger Reina gave a lovely response to the visitors’ toast.

A week later the Brethren enjoyed a fabulous evening of Country & Western music at their themed Ladies Night organised by the Worshipful Master Mike Norton and his wife Kate. The event was well supported by the Brethren and over 65 attended the fund raising event at the Langport Arms.

The evening started with a fabulous hot buffet and dessert followed by a fantastic Country and Western music set performed by Lizz-ee. A quiz and bumper raffle took place and this was followed by a pop set by the artist. Everyone had a fantastic time and £760 was raised for the Master’s charities – taking the amount raised thus far to nearly £2400.
