Brotherly Love at a special Tennyson ceremony
Tennyson Lodge, meeting in Clevedon held a very special narrated 1st Degree Ceremony at their October meeting. The Brethren have not performed a ceremony this way since 2014 and were delighted to have three visiting Apprentices and a Fellow Craft from other Lodges. The “Candidate” for the evening was visitor William Lindsay from Chatterton Lodge in the Province of Bristol. Having only joined himself in early October the ceremony (albeit a slightly different version!) was still fresh in his mind.
Andy Wade took the Master’s Chair for the evening. Tony Bryant stepped into the Junior Deacon role and did a superb job of leading the candidate around the lodge. The ceremony was paused several times to explain the meaning and significance of the different parts of the ceremony. The highlight of the evening was Alistair Lindsay having the opportunity to deliver the Charge to his own brother William, a part of the ceremony not done by his Lodge in Bristol.
At the Festive Board downstairs, the evening continued with Alistair presenting William with an Adair Club pin badge, in return he was presented with a Dunkerly’s pin badge. William took the opportunity to thank the Master and all those who took part in the ceremony for allowing him to play the part of the Candidate for the evening.
