World Parkinson’s Day
There is a very special Community Event that the Lyme Regis District Parkinson’s Support Group is hosting to mark World Parkinson’s Day on Saturday 11th.
A weekend of community events if planned focused on the Jubilee Pavilion on Marine Parade in Lyme Regis. These activities will take place on Saturday 11th and Sunday 12th April, from 10am until 4.30pm each day.
They will include an Information and Awareness area, sharing vital information about Parkinson’s, available support, advances in research and local groups and activities. There will also be live music and a series of “Seaside Chats” with Parkinson’s experts and professionals sharing their knowledge and information throughout the weekend. And as evening creeps in, the Group will be shining a (blue) light on the beautiful trees in Langmoor Garden.
All aspects of these activities are completely free of charge and open to everyone, especially people living with Parkinson’s or caring for someone living with the condition. A schedule of events and brief biographies is to follow. Additional information is also available on the website Parkinson’s Europe
The overall aim is to raise awareness, fund raise and empower everyone affected by Parkinson’s.
The South West of England has the highest number of people living with Parkinson’s in the UK, and Parkinson’s is one of the fastest growing neurological conditions in the world. It is, therefore, critical that as a community we continue to raise awareness and support those affected by this condition throughout their Parkinson’s journey.
Brethren, please stop by for a chat and help make this ambitious, busy weekend a success in our neighbouring province.
