A Family Affair
The meeting of Sir Isaac Newton Lodge on Thursday January 22nd was very much a family affair and one which belied the average age of the Lodge being over 70!
The candidate was 24-year-old Thomas Pasley who was proposed by his grandfather, Bro. David Pasley, the Lodge Almoner, who was himself initiated in 1968.
The Junior Deacon was 24-year-old Bro. Andrew Edgell, performing his first ceremony as Junior Deacon, watched over by his father W.Bro. Jack Edgell, the Lodge’s Junior Warden.
The Senior Deacon was Thomas’s grandfather, who also presented the Working Tools to his grandson.
This was the first ceremony for the new Master, W.Bro. Peter Tyler, in his second spell in the Master’s Chair. He should be very proud of the performance of his team, especially his Junior Deacon, as the whole ceremony went very smoothly.
Sir Isaac Newton Lodge always invites their ladies to the Festive Board, which meant that Bro Tom was able to share his special day with the female side of the family as well as his grandfather.
The photo shows Bro David, the proud grandfather, with his newly initiated grandson and Bro Andrew, the Junior Deacon.
The Lodge only meets 4 times a year, and always on a Thursday morning followed by lunch in a gentle family atmosphere. Any brother reading this who is considering giving up his Masonry because of the driving at night and eating too late, why not come and visit us and try something different.
