RPL 291 Install their new Master

On a cold wet Friday, in not so sunny Burnham on Sea, Ian “Chedz” Chedzey was installed as the new WM of Rural Philanthropic Lodge (if you can pronounce it, you can join) in their 233rd Installation meeting.

The outgoing Master Malcolm Price installed Ian in his usual friendly and humours style, with sincerity and meaning. Ian took to the chair like a duck to water and installed his Officers with near word perfect precision. Ted Toon PrJGW was there as the Presiding Officer, representing Ray Guthrie the PGM accompanied by Nathan Henderson the PrDGDC.

The night was also made special by the announcement of Graham Puddy as the new APGM along with two other members of the Lodge being awarded active Provincial Rank, Brothers Paul and Matthew Jarvis.

With nearly 50 in attendance including 12 guests everyone had a splendid evening, the Festive Board was its usual lively self, with the address to the Visitors by the new JW being something many will not forget!

The only dampner on the evening was the ever hard working John Chinn being struck down with flu and struggled to provide all the catering, however the ever helpful Nick Reed stepped up to the mark to help out. We wish John a speedy recovery.

The next meeting of RPL is the 6th March where the new team will be carrying out an Initiation and welcoming their Great Great Great Granddaughter Lodge, Estune on their annual Fraternal Visit. If anyone wishes to attend please let the Lodge Secretary know here – rplsec@gmail.com
