Community Collaboration at King Alfred

Last year’s masonic year was slightly different for King Alfred, each meeting, brethren was able to
nominate a chosen local charity to donate the evenings funds to. This was a novel way of engaging
the brethren and to improve our community engagement.
One of the chosen charities was North Somerset Branch of the National Autistic Society. The NAS are
a charity that provides a range of services to communities up and down the country. This includes
advice, guidance and support to families, workplaces and schools. They also provide adult residential
services offering specialist person-centred support in rural and urban settings.
It is with my pleasure to announce that we raised £200 for this charity but this effort was absolutely
dwarfed by the monumental effort of the Worlebury Ladies committee of the Worlebury Golf Club
who raised a staggering £5,931.00. So together with our cheque a combined total of £6,131.00 was
raised and delivered to the NAS.
