Somerset’s Golf Lodge Installs Jeff Body As Its Master.
The Brethren of Somerset Fairway Lodge 9251, and their guests, thoroughly enjoyed the Installation of their new Master for the ensuing Year at Yatton Masonic Hall on Wednesday 5th November.
Outgoing Master, Brian Pollard hasn’t enjoyed the best of health during his year as Master of the Lodge, during which time Jeff has very willingly stepped in for him, as and when required.
The Lodge was honoured with the presence of W. Bro Keith Baker, who was in attendance to represent the Provincial Grand Master. He was accompanied by Garry Hall, Provincial ADC.

Brian was able to attend this meeting, but the privilege of Installing Jeff as Master was very ably accepted by Roger Brigland, who did his Brethren proud by doing an excellent job on Brian’s behalf.
Brian has been a stalwart member of Fairway Lodge for many years, which was recognised by Keith as he presented Brian with his Past Master’s Jewel.
Once Installed as Master, Jeff enjoyed appointing and investing his officers for the forthcoming year, all of whom are looking forward to supporting him in continuing the excellent work, golf days and social events which have long since been established as defining characteristics of the Somerset Fairway Lodge, enjoyed by the members and their guests for many years.
The forthcoming golf fixtures scheduled for 2026 haven’t yet been finalised, but will be published in the very near future on this website.

The Festive Board, following the meeting, was a delicious roast lamb dinner which was enjoyed amidst a very lively atmosphere.
The last scheduled Fairway Lodge golf match, held at Mendip Spring Golf Club on the 3rd of September, had to be unusually abandoned, mid-round, by order of the management in response to a downpour of storm driven rain which quickly flooded the course after the prolonged long, hot summer weather.
Fairway Lodge doesn’t normally arrange a golf match to be held on the same day as its November Installation Meeting but, in view of the aforementioned abandonment, it was decided to book some tee times at Mendip Spring for those able and willing to play on the day.
This time, it was dry, but pretty windy, as eight hardy souls teed-off and made their way around the course, which was in good condition for the time of year. A good deal of fun and usual golf banter was enjoyed by all. The top scorer back at the clubhouse was Mike Greedy, with Richard Stone and Andy Baird tying for runner-up spot. Richard deservedly took that prize, having played with a half-set of clubs, which he carried around, whilst Andy had a full set of clubs and an electric trolley!
