Quantock Lodge Enjoys Their Ladies Festival

On Saturday 28th June the Brethren of the Quantock Lodge, Watchet, their wives, partners, friends and brethren from kindred Lodges enjoyed a very happy and successful Ladies Festival at Dunster Tithe Barn, with ninety-two attendees. The Worshipful Master, Alan Sandwell and his wife Helen presided, and credit must be extended to them both for their hard work and dedication in organising the evening, with the assistance of the organising committee and friends.

The charity for the evening and indeed for Alan’s year was Williton and Surrounds Parkinson’s Support (WASPS), a charity very dear to Alan and Helen, having given them great support and continuing support during Alan’s illness. The Lodge are pleased to report that over £1,000 was raised during the evening, with a further £500 having already been pledged by the Lodge Committee, and another £200 being raised by the Quantock Chapter. It was pleasing to see Committee members from WASPS attending the event, too. Kit Lloyd presented a gift to Helen from the Brethren and Helen suitably responded with an excellent speech. The toast to the Ladies was given by Alex Moran and The Ladies’ Song was sung by Andrew Spiers. A good meal was enjoyed by all, and dancing followed to finish off the evening.

All in all, a very happy and successful evening and a fitting conclusion to Alan’s very fruitful and happy year in the Chair!
