Freemasons support Yeo Moor School, Clevedon

Brothers Ian McDonald and Neil Hurcum, representing Hallam Mark Lodge and Thackeray Royal Ark Mariner lodge, presented a cheque for £400 to Yeo Moor School in Clevedon, on Friday 6th June 2025.

Both being experienced Masons, and so well used to standing and speaking at lodge meetings, they found themselves very nervous indeed in front of 400 children, but the reception from staff and pupils alike was first class.

Mrs King and young George, the inspiration for their outside garden project, were overwhelmed with the £400 donation. George’s coping mechanism in life when things get tough is to dig – but on Friday he went home from school as high as kite.

Neil queued with his granddaughter for the cake sale after school, and the long line of children who spoke were all very excited with the new venture. A complete eye opener for Neil.

The Assistant Head wrote: “Thank you so much. I wanted you to have this straight away so you could add it to your newsletter or Facebook page.  We are looking forward to turning the plan into reality. Mrs King is so pleased to be able to do this for the summer term ahead.”

The Headmaster in his introduction spoke of “friends from Clevedon Freemasons”, which was very refreshing indeed, and invited Neil and Ian back to see how they are getting on… With the promise of tea and cakes!

Neil and Ian would like to thank all those that supported this venture, which has definitely made a difference in the Clevedon community.
