Richard Huish Have Trowel – Will Travel

As Freemasons know, the Travelling Trowel is a way of bringing Lodges together and encouraging visiting. So it was that on the 28th May, Richard Huish Lodge took a full XI out to Wiveliscombe, to present the Trowel to their friends in Loyal Vacation Lodge. Unknown to those who compiled the schedule, this was especially meaningful for Richard Huish, as the Lodge met in the very same Wiveliscombe Masonic Hall in their early years. Some of the visitors were therefore almost late for the Festive Board, as they worked their way through the photos on the staircase wall, happily recognising those of their members who had been a Master of Loyal Vacation Lodge.

On the evening, visitors were warmly welcomed and then witnessed a lovely initiation ceremony. In particular, a confidently-delivered Charge To The Initiate was delivered by W Bro Steve, the Junior Warden. Then all downstairs for a tasty three-course Festive Board of leek & potato soup, chicken & mushroom pie with lemon cheesecake to finish everyone off.

Richard Wilson is pictured above presenting Russell with the Trowel, which they will in turn take to Tynte Lodge at Bridgwater in October, when the Masonic season ‘reopens’. Also pictured is the Richard Huish team (above top). A few ‘old hands’ of course, but very encouraging that several of the newer members were out visiting and seeing a ceremony at another Lodge.
