Severn Installation Meeting
On Saturday the 17th of May, W. Bro James Purnell was installed into the Chair of King Solomon for the second time in 11 years, the first time being 2014. The Installation meeting was attended by W. Bro Steve Coles, PrSGW. representing the Right Worshipful Provincial Grand Master, Ray Guthrie. He was Abley accompanied by W. Bro Timothy Brookes, PrAGDC.
W. Bro James was Installed by the outgoing Master W. Bro Geoff Lester, who incidentally was also his proposer into Freemasonry in 2007, you could tell there is a special bond between them both.
There was a total of thirty-five Brethren at the meeting, Severn Lodge was honoured by having seventeen visitors from the Provinces of Somerset, Bristol, Gloucester, Sussex. W. Bro Roy Lester a member and Past Master of Severn, Bringing four guests with him his hometown of Worthing. Severn was also honoured to have a fraternal visit from Gordano Lodge, whose Worshipful Master is, W. Bro David Parslow who has been a member of Severn Lodge for 22 years and is currently our secretary. Severn was also honoured to have three Grand Officers present.
Our new Worshipful Master did an excellent job of investing his officers and taking care of the business of the evening. Which included balloting for two joining members, increasing the Seven membership to ensure its future.
W. Bro Geoff Lester was presented a bar to add to his Past Master’s Jewell by his father, W. Bro Roy Lester. That being the third time he has been in the Chair of Severn.
The Brethren then retired from the Lodge to retire to the bar prior to attending the Festive Board where the evening continued with great joy and comradery. The members of Severn Lodge gave their usual rendition of the Severn Song, which is always a crowd pleaser.
The Brethren of Severn Lodge are looking forward to this year. Feeling assured that the Lodge is in the very capable hands of our newly installed Master, W. Bro James Purnell.
