Donation to the Somerset Unit for Radiotherapy Equipment Charity by Bridgwater Royal Arch Freemasons

Members of Royal Arch Chapter No. 135 Perpetual Friendship in Bridgwater recently attended the Beacon Centre cancer centre at Musgrove Park hospital and presented a cheque for £550 to Barrie Palmer, the Founder of SURE, The Somerset Unit for Radiotherapy Equipment. There was a dormant account belonging to the Chapter at the Masonic Charitable Foundation, which with interest amounted to £350. The members decided to donate this to SURE for their continued work in providing state of the art equipment, making the Beacon Centre, a National Centre of Excellence, for the people of Somerset.
A further personal donation of £200 was donated by John Ireland. This was then Gift Aided increasing that amount to £250.
The members were greeted by Jo Penman, Unit head and Steve McCormack head of Medical Physics, who explained the work of the centre.
The photo shows the members who attended in front of a Linear Accelerator radiotherapy machine along with Barrie Palmer. Who is himself an Assistant Provincial Grand Master in Somerset Freemasons.
