Pure Gold at Prudence and Industry
Another fabulous occasion at Prudence and Industry who meet in Chard. The Lodge was honoured by the presence of Right Worshipful Brother Stuart Hadler the Past Provincial Grand Master for Somerset, and the programme for the evening was packed. A double raising was performed with Jonathan Redgrave and Philip Hosken becoming Master Masons. I know both were astonished by their experience. The Master and his team produced a very accomplished ceremony.
Then Stuart presented Ian Walker with his “Golden Anniversary” 50 years Certificate. Stuart did a resume of Ian’s masonic career and his life in general and even people who knew him well were amazed at all he has achieved, including being Treasurer of the Lodge for an incredible 26 years and also his membership of countless Masonic side degrees. Who would have known that he was a Silversmith with his own Hallmark? Add in very successful teacher, and guitarist/folk singer and family man with two very accomplished children with his wife Jan. What a man!

The Stuart went on to present Grand Lodge Certificates to Clive Ellesmere and Lee Hart. There then followed business necessary prior to Installation of the new Master at our next meeting.

To round it off the Festive Board was excellent where another highlight was the response on behalf of the visitors by Paulin Phillips who, due to his poor health made a gargantuan effort to see Ian receive his certificate, and delivered a classic witty speech. A wonderful evening.
