A Family Affair At Taunton Deane Lodge Installation Meeting

At their recent March meeting, Taunton Deane Lodge (TDL) No. 5221 who meet at the historic Masonic Centre in Taunton installed ‘Lewis’ Nick Judd into the chair of King Solomon. This was a very special evening, especially as the Installing Master Peter Roworth allowed Nick’s father Gary Judd to place Nick into the Worshipful Master’s chair – which he did in a most wonderful manner. Gary was Master of TDL in 2011 and both Nick’s Grandfather and Great Grandfather were Freemasons in Southampton. The Lodge was honoured with the presence of Gary Sharp, who represented the Provincial Grand Master on the evening.
All present witnessed a superb ceremony with both the Wardens and Senior Deacon presenting the Working Tools perfectly; the three addresses to the Master, Wardens and Brethren were delivered impeccably. The Worshipful Master installed and Invested his Officers in a most wonderful and relaxed manner. This included the Worshipful Master’s brother Ollie being installed as Inner Guard and his father Gary remaining as Lodge Almoner.

The Installation was very well attended with over 50 brethren from Somerset and further afield present. The Taunton caterer Karen and staff again provided a superb meal at the Festive Board with all present in good voice for both the Guests’ song and of course the song to the new Worshipful Master. Taunton Deane Lodge are in a very strong position with every office filled and Stewards waiting to progress further. Every month the Lodge Of Instruction (boys’ night) is very well attended with the newer brethren being supported by the more experienced members; all the hard work really shows during the ceremonies. A curry is always enjoyed after every boys night which gives everyone a chance to relax and chat.
