An International Affair
In March, The Royal Cumberland Lodge of Bath held a truly international meeting.
Royal Cumberland is already quite cosmopolitan, having members who hail from Turkey, Cyprus, Germany, Portugal, Spain, The Philippines, Mauritius and Poland; not to mention Wales and Scotland.
However, they had a party of four brethren from La Bien Aimée of the Netherland Constitution in Amsterdam, along with a brother from Canada and another from Argentina.
At the meeting Brothers Erkan and Dennis were passed to the 2nd Degree as Fellowcrafts.

The acting Master, Vincent noted that, “the 2nd Degree is much-maligned, viewed by many as something through which a brother must pass on his way to becoming a Master Mason.” He added, “this is a flawed interpretation because in the 2nd Degree a brother is invited to study the hidden mysteries of nature and science.”
“Freemasonry, as we know is all about self-improvement. Education is an important part of an individual’s self-improvement, therefore we should regard the 2nd Degree as a vital stepping-stone in our Masonic journey.”
They look forward to Raising Brothers Erkan and Dennis to the sublime Degree of Master Mason in May.
