Follow up Membership Challenge and a Passing at Frome
Royal Somerset Lodge commenced the New Year with a successful meeting, marked by two key events: the Passing of Brother Les Spalding to the Second Degree and a presentation by the Provincial Grand Master (PGM), Ray Guthrie on the Membership Challenge.
The PGM’s address on the Membership Challenge was well-received by the Lodge members, highlighting the importance of continued growth and encouraging further Masonic journeys, including the pursuit of exaltation into the Royal Arch.
The Second-Degree ceremony, conducted by the Lodge’s newly installed officers, was a resounding success. The Lodge Master Andy Hickling presided with confidence during his inaugural ceremony, while Deacons Tino van der Woude and Kevin Milne expertly guided Brother Les Spalding through the ceremony. Les demonstrated a strong understanding of the former degree by confidently answering the proof of proficiency. Furthermore, John Wenborn delivered an exceptional rendition of the 2nd degree tracing board.
Following the formal proceedings, the Lodge enjoyed a convivial meal with excellent food and drink. The raffle added a lighthearted touch, culminating in a memorable moment when the two deacons, conducting the draw, hilariously selected each other’s names in succession.
Overall, the first meeting of 2025 proved to be a positive and productive gathering for Royal Somerset Lodge, fostering a strong sense of camaraderie and enthusiasm for the year ahead.
