Stars in Their Eyes at Gordano and JDC Lodge
Gordano Lodge and John de Clivedon Lodge recently held the third of their cabaret nights in Nailsea Grove Sports Centre, in aid of two worthy local charities, Gympanzees (A world of fitness for disabled children) and Remap (Custom made equipment for disabled people). From this highly successful evening, several hundred pounds were raised for these worthwhile charities.
As always these events are well attended, especially by Freemasons and their family and friends, Somerset, Gloucestershire, Wiltshire, Bristol and even Yorkshire provinces were well represented in good numbers.
The evening started off being taken to the high seas and a time of Great Britain sailing the waves with The Port Of Bristol Sea Shanty Crew (all Bristol Freemasons apart from one!). They had the room singing, stamping feet and charging glasses to the sounds of the sea shanty in no time.
In the break, there was a wonderful buffet laid on by Zena (the Clevedon Masonic Halls caterer) – this was well received as everyone went back for 3rds and 4th and even took doggy bags home with them.
The main act for the evening was Stars In Your Eyes Winner Paul Salvage, with his golden tones and unique comedy performance he got the party going, with hilarious laughter, dancing and singing along. He presented two sessions, really lifting the roof off, with everyone having a wonderful time.
There was, of course, a first class raffle, this raising more funds for the two charities.
Alas the evening was over all too quickly as nobody wanted to leave, many asking when can we do another cabaret night as they had such a fantastic time.
