Adair Club 10 Year Celebration
The Adair Club celebrated its 10th Anniversary in style on Saturday, September 7th, by organising its first-ever Lodge takeover and conducting an Initiation ceremony under the warrant of Love and Honour No.285 at the Crossways Hotel.
After opening the Lodge, Andy Johns – the Acting Master of No 285 – invited Craig Harding, the Secretary of the Adair Club, to take the Chair to conduct the Ceremony.
The following Adair Club members officered the Lodge:
Club Chairman Mike Norton – Senior Warden
Club Membership Secretary Tom Beasley – Junior Warden
Gaz Bottomly – Senior Deacon
Chris Cooke – Junior Deacon
Nikita Lester – Inner Guard
Rob Collins – Tyler
Dave Gleeson – IPM
Chris Baker – Chaplin
Vince Baughan – Assistant Director of Ceremonies
Sam Mayer – Director of Ceremonies
The team Initiated Damien Salter into Love and Honour. Having recently sold his business and attended several lodge social events, Damian found himself with more free time and decided it was the right moment to join the fraternity.
Richard Winter, Past Assistant Provincial Grand Master, commented,
“I have to say it was one of the best, most complete Initiation ceremonies I have had the privilege to watch. Many members took part with every piece of the ritual being split including the charge and the incredible Tracing Board, presented by Ross Bambrey and Shay Aziz, had the hairs on the back of your neck standing up. Brilliant performance by all those who took part. Sam Mayer [DC] seamlessly led the Adair team through the Ceremony. To top the evening off, we had a Nepalese banquet and a couple of beers, which was fantastic! If this is what ten years of the Adair Club leads to then I look forward to the next ten. Quality members having fun and supporting each other and the Masonic Province of Somerset. A great time was had by all who attended – congratulations”.
The following Adair members also participated in the Ceremony:
Vince Baughn
Davide Pina
Harry Blinson
Steve Jellis
Michael Beasley
Stuart Talbot
Rob Thomas
Matty Brown from Prorsum Semper [the Gloucester Light Blues] gave a wonderful speech at the festive board congratulating the club on its Anniversary.
The atmosphere during the Ceremony and Festive Board was amazing, and everyone had a fantastic time. The evening raised £165 in a whisky draw, which will go to the Langport Food Bank.
The Adair Club would like to thank all the members of No.285, especially the secretary Steve Ruddock, for helping make this happen.
