A Social Bond Between Lodges

Gordano Lodge and John De Clivedon Lodge who both meet in Clevedon, recently held their joint monthly gathering as part of their social calendar.

The idea is to have fun nights and days out as brethren, but also with wives and partners: a strong social lodge is a strong working lodge.

This provides the opportunity to meet prospective candidates in a social format with no pressure.

This night proved just that, as they had as many candidates awaiting their Initiation there, with their wives and partners, as they did Masons.

They even had a formal application form competed for JDC.

They were a little thin on the ground this time due to brethren away on holiday and various other family commitments, but what they lacked for in quantity, made up for in quality.

Their nights out are normally themed with food being a major draw, having enjoyed fish and chips, Italian, Indian nights out in the past.

This night the younger brethren chose Cosmo in Clifton Bristol, where a vast array of food from many countries was on offer, at this buffet style restaurant.

By all accounts, a most jolly night was had by all, with Matt Westley now aptly named the Gordano Bucket as he ate a bucket load of desserts, much to the jovial banter of the brethren and guests.

Simon Jones won the sprout eating competition, after he demolished the biggest soggy sprout in history: again, a lot of joviality from the brethren and guests.

A truly wonderful night was had by all, and they are now planning their next social event: could it be French, Chinese or even Japanese?

They have a wonderful cabaret evening planned for November 2nd 2024 in Nailsea with an international award winning artist as the main act, to find out more please email their secretary at gordano.lodge@gmail.com
