The Navy Help Out Fairmead Community Special School

The Royal Navy Lodge who meet in Yeovil, has donated £500 to Fairmead Special School in Yeovil. The donation is to support the school with its entrants to the Duke of Edinburgh Awards Scheme, the school recognises that it offers opportunities to their Special Educational Needs students that they find quite beneficial. The Bronze award consists of three sections: physical, skill and finally an overnight expedition.

The school fully funds each student taking part in the Bronze award and has a dedicated Duke of Edinburgh coordinator who fund raises throughout the year to make the financial commitment. Each student has to be registered for the award and any equipment needed is supplied by the school. The Royal Navy Lodge’s donation will help to buy much needed new equipment for the overnight expedition section of the award.
