‘Walk The Edge’ Chris Arrives In Somerset
Chris Jones, a Freemason from Lincolnshire, is undertaking a walk of the entire coastline of Britain and today arrived in Burnham on Sea to be met by local Freemasons.
Chris said “I believe I’m alive today because of the Freemasons’ charity the MCF, which steered me through the darkest days of a mental health crisis. To say thank you to the professionals who helped me I’m embarking on a journey to walk the entire coastline of Britain; a journey of 7,000 miles or so, which could take me 2 years to complete.”
Chris has set himself a target of raising £100,000 for the Masonic Charitable Foundation and has recently passed £40,000. Freemasons from across Somerset have added £1,000 to this total and Burnham Freemasons a further £100.
John Chinn representing Burnham Freemasons said “we are very pleased to welcome Chris to our Town and thank him for his outstanding effort and the money he is raising for the MCF.” On behalf of Freemasons across Somerset, Graham Puddy added “what a great endeavour from Chris which will allow the MCF to continue their good work not only in Somerset but across England & Wales”.
Before setting off again, Chris added “throughout the journey so far I’ve been overwhelmed by the kindness of strangers and the unstinting ways in which they have helped – especially the community of Freemasons”.
We wish Chris the very best of luck for the remainder of his journey around the coast.
