Portcullis Lodge – A Busy and Enjoyable Bank Holiday Weekend of Visitors
Over the Bank Holiday weekend, Portcullis Lodge was delighted to welcome more than 300 visitors to the Hanging Chapel, including Sarah Dyke, MP for Glastonbury and Somerton. Guests showed great interest in both the history of the Chapel and the story of Freemasonry in Langport.

Sarah kindly recorded her thoughts in the visitors’ book and later on her Facebook page, commenting on what an absolutely fascinating visit she had and how much she enjoyed learning about Freemasonry and the unique heritage of the Hanging Chapel.

The following Tuesday, the doors were opened once again—this time to Somerton History Society. Members enjoyed a talk on the Chapel’s long history and its connection with Freemasonry, with plenty of questions and lively discussion.

Looking ahead, on Thursday 10th September the Lodge is preparing to welcome the Deputy Provincial Grand Master and members of the Provincial Team, an occasion the brethren are very much looking forward to.
