A Night of Firsts at Tynte Lodge
The Brethren and guests of Tynte Lodge were recently treated to several ‘Firsts’ at the May meeting of the Lodge.
The first ‘First’ was the Deputy Provincial Grand Master with the Membership Challenge which, as we have come to expect, was delivered in a very clear and concise manner with good humour by Ben Batley. After introducing the Provincial Team, he went on to praise Tynte Lodge for being very much on the ball and having an excellent recruitment program already in place. Their Membership Officer, Alan Chambers, taking the praise for the delivery of their program.
Brother Peter Willcox was then Passed to the Degree of a Fellowcraft, during which ceremony he presented himself exceptionally well.
The second ‘First’ was an excellent explanation of the Second-Degree tracing board given by their Master, Peter James, being the first time that he had presented this ritual in open Lodge. He presented it to Brother Peter Willcox who was accompanied at the tracing board by two more Fellowcrafts, Brother Paul Knight and Brother Sam Morgan, visiting from Dyffryn Tawe Lodge.
The evening concluded with a hearty Festive Board and after dinner speeches full of humour and praise for an excellent evening of Freemasonry and Tynte Lodge hospitality.
It was during this part of the evening that two more ‘Firsts’ were enjoyed; the toast to the Province was delivered in excellent fashion by a Fellowcraft, in the person of the evening’s candidate, Brother Peter Willcox, and the visitors’ toast was then responded to by another Fellowcraft, Brother Sam Morgan of the Dyffryn Tawe Lodge, Swansea.
